I don’t have children.
So I won’t pretend to know what it’s like to juggle a Zoom call with a toddler on your lap, a birthday cake in the oven, and a school form due in six minutes. But I do work with women who do exactly that—and more—every single day. And I’ve got to say, it’s nothing short of remarkable.
They’re not just working from home—they’re working while running entire households, fielding snack requests, managing family calendars, removing glitter from questionable places, and solving Tooth Fairy logistics in between client emails.
One of my favourite ongoing moments?
A certain pint-sized “team member” who has now drawn 1,000 laptops (and counting) and regularly hosts fake phone calls about being “too busy to talk right now” and needing to “reschedule a meeting.”
Honestly? A future CEO if I’ve ever seen one.
These women show up with professionalism and calm—even when behind the scenes it’s chaos, cake crumbs, and possibly a family birthday mid-meeting. They might send that email at 10:47pm—not because they’re late, but because that’s the first moment the house is finally quiet.
They get things done with zero fuss and a mountain of unseen effort.
What I’ve realised is this:
Working mums from home aren’t “just managing.”
They’re delivering, leading, and adapting—in the middle of circumstances that would throw most of us completely off course.
They’re proof that flexibility doesn’t mean compromise.
It means trust, autonomy, and results.
So if you’re still underestimating what a working mum can do from her kitchen table, while simultaneously unpicking a sticker from the dog’s ear… you’re seriously missing out.
I’m endlessly grateful to have them on my team.
And even more in awe that they make it all look effortless—especially when it’s anything but.
To all the working-from-home mums out there: we see you. We value you. You’re quietly reshaping what professional life can look like.
And to the mini exec with the packed fake diary and excellent phone voice—you’ve got a job waiting for you when you’re ready.
